Biography
George T. Tsao is an emeritus professor of Purdue University. In 1978, he established the Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering at Purdue. His major research interest has been biochemical engineering involved in syntheses of biochemicals and biofuels from waste biomass. He has had about 300 technical publications and patents related to subjects in his field. He trained a total of 72 doctoral students and 64 post-doctorates. He is the first recipient of the John Ericsson Award issued by the U S Department of Energy, cited for outstanding in research on bioenergy. Professor Tsao's very early emphasis on the valuable potential of renewable resources to human well being has been awarded and recognized as a world leader in the advent of industrial biotechnology by Visionaries of Industrial Biotechnology.
